Mopar Scrambler kit for the 4 door

Just found this today

http://www.detnews.com/article/20110...to-Jeep-pickup

I know the shop that did this for Mopar, they also did a few J8s for the UN that were close to the same style. As far as a weekend project, not for the average person.

So if Mopar is coming out with that "kit", I guess that slams the coffin shut on us EVER seeing a true Jeep truck?

Hey Chrysler, come close here, I have something to whisper in your ear....

^^ Agreed!!
I feel cheated. Its like going to a steak house for a good T-Bone, or Ribeye but the only thing on the menu is pork chops.

COME ON JEEP!

as was said before its not a true truck, the bed box is not seperate from the cab... and so on. They are afraid of the market right now and wont take a big stake in a product that may not sell. Maybe we will have to wait a few more years before they realize it needs to be a showroom, turnkey truck before they will sell like the wrangler in stock form has done for the past few years.

it is nice to see however that they are getting more market share and that jeep is selling well as an overall brand for Chrysler. something needs to keep them afloat.

DUDE!!! Let both of your nuts drop, Chrysler! If they were to do this, it would sell like a madman. It may not be a 'true' pickup with separate cab/box but it wouldnt need to be. The Scrambler never had that either. If you want a 'regular' pickup then go to Ram. This is designed more as an SUT with all the offroad capability of a Wrangler but with more utility and a different style. If they did this, it would completely shut down the whining from the Ram elements that supposedly dont want to compete with a Jeep pickup since its a different animal entirely.

Oh and by the way: That whole 'Pork Chop' concept is F'ing RAD. The red interior, correct style rear roll cage and cowl stripe a-la the Hurst Commando are perfect, and those grey coke bottle mags (similar to Torq Thrusts) are the wheels that the Wrangler should have had long ago. Those had BETTER become an optional offering. The Renegade package is LONG overdue for the Wrangler, as is a V-8 option. I dont care if its the 392, the 5.7 would be fine. Hell, Id be happy with the 4.7, as long as its an upgrade from a V-6.

If Chrysler doesnt start integrating these features into the Wrangler lineup then they deserve to fail.

At least it leads one to believe the 2012 "sheet metal changes" will not be too drastic. If they are putting out a body kit, there will be a similar body

That top looks like the River raider top. I have a feeling this is what the gladiator "truck" will be.....

If you watch some of the videos on it, they say this is just the Mopar solution, not the end-all for Jeep trucks.

The biggest reason they don't build the Gladiator right now, aside from a MY2012 refresh for the Wrangler, is the fact that the Wrangler factory is already at 85% capacity as-is. There isn't anywhere to build the damn thing.

FAIL...I guess I'll start the hunt for an old willys truck or a TJ to cut up and make into a Brute...Jeep I'm SO dissapointed. I waited, I hoped, I emailed, I cajoled. I can't wait any longer. When you decide to make a real truck shoot me an email. A JK8 really? We could have ordered our own from GR8TOPS if we just wanted a conversion.

@ kpsurfs

Yes, this is very disappointing. I don't even like the look.

I'm just going to stick with my original plan, buy and restore a CJ8.

I'd rather just buy a Humvee M1152 truck and be done with it . . . The advertisement said turn your 4dr into a pickup, Quiet frankly that's NOT even close to a "Truck" . . . The CJ8 truck had an actual bed like cargo area ! Basically put a drop in bed/cab wall ! ! This looks nothing like the JT8 as stated ! ! !

I was picturing a full bodied truck, a one piece unit such as the JT unit ! That looks like a wrangler with the top N doors removed

That is the Pork chop, a mopar version of the 2 door striped down. Check the link in the first post, you will be a lot happier. Its being called the JK8 Independence, and I have heard rumors about it going into limited production....
