Bravo! Bravo!

I couldn't agree with you more! What the "F" has happened to Jeep? The WK reminds me more of the Isuzu Axiom than my Grand Cherokee. And what's with that ugly, clunky Commander? It's "Trail Rated?!" For what? Dirt roads and construction zones? Both the WK and XK have lower ground clearance than an Escape! And what the hell is the necesity for a Patriot AWD and a Compass, in addition to the Liberty (Cherokee over-seas)?! I'd like to know why Jeep is choosing to expand in these ways, as oposed to producing the Gladiator, Hurricane and Rescue! Why, oh why can't they make THE RESCUE?!!! If Jeep is going to allow Dieter Zetsche to *****-up the brand, they should insist on at least offering Rubicon versions of the WK, XK and KJ. If the next gen Grand Cherokee doesn't look like my version of the Trailhawk I posted here, it's either a beefed-up JK Unlimited Rubicon, or bye-bye Jeep. ![]()

Why don't they call that thing what it will really turn out to be:
The MALL HAWK.

While I would want taller glass on it instead of the chopped look it has I certainly can't complain about what is under the skin. It's a JK frame and suspension. What I think they are trying to present with this styling concept is ways to offer an open air feeling should the government step up and regulate out of existence soft tops, removable doors and folding windshields. Most of what people are listing as questionable items on the JK are there because they had to be to meet federal regulations. No more rear mounted fuel tanks. A front end designed for a softer impact with a pedestrian. But while they had to meet these requirements they still decided to beef up and upgrade many items on the JK. At least they are still trying to offer a rugged vehicle. With all the current and future regulations they could have just given up but they haven't.

The first picture actually makes me think that this may be a model to compete with the new Toy FJ?

The chop is awesome, better proportionately than the concept. The Concept is too low and the Dodge wheels are too small. |

However raising the fender line can be done. I have a show on my DVR by a company AEV: American Expedition Vehichles. Its pretty sick, they fit 37 inch tires on a Wrangler Unlimited with only a 2 inch BB style lift. they do this by having custom fab'ed Fenders that are taller, longer, wider but hold the stock form and they put them 3 inches higher. Also they put on a new hood, redo the back to a single 'World Door' and then throw a new 5.7 Hemi in it.

Latest report in the UK, Jeep were saying that this will be the styling cue for next Grand Cherokee and I am sorry to say this, but it will lose the solid axle.
I dont really seeing it hit production like it is as there are too many regulations that effect the shape of a vehicle now. I have been told the shape change on the KJ bumpers was to help it score better in pedestrian crash tests Slowly but surely Jeep are being swallowed by the DCX machine and are turning to mush in the process. Built for the masses with little regard for its heritage. |
