Supposedly this guy got one shipped stateside. However, if you read the article he had the suspension changed to coils. So basically he built an Unlimited... with a diesel and axle he could have purchased from Mopar.. I wonder how much he paid for the Jeep, Shipping, and having the suspension modified.. more or less than modifying an Unlimited?
Pretty sweet stuff, no doubt! The thing that vehicle has that I most definitely would like in my TJ is the VM 2.8L CRD. Would be interesting to do a comparative build to see the final costs for each platform. Hrrmm....maybe a future Freek Garage article.

The guy who got it from egypt had some type of connection overthere in the oil industry. I'm sure it wasn't easy. If you really wanted one, you could take an older TJ unlimited and swap in a liberty CRD as long as it was the same year or newer. The front HP D44 and D60 is available through Mopar and other aftermarket sellers now and there was mention of it coming with TJ mounting brackets. Unfortunately, it's a c-clip D 60 and not a semi or full floater.

The one big difference was the bolt pattern was 5 on 5.5 rather than the 5 on 5, like the JK.

It would be cool to have, but not worth the effort to build IMO. You could do a lot of other stuff with all that $$$.

The T-1 just looks like a Brute with a CRD.
