International To Buy Jeep? Hemi's, Diesels, etc. B.S.?

I just read in the April (as in fools) issue of JP magazine that Interational was buying Jeep and that they would be putting Hemi's and diesels in the Wrangler in 2010. I told a fellow wheeler about it today and he laughed saying that he read on the internet that it's probably an April fools joke. If it is, I'm cancelling my subscription to the magazine after signing up for a one year subscription and having only received 3 months so far. Not funny. I'm serious. I'll stick to getting my Jeep info on this great site instead...

Yes it is an April Fools joke. Calm down, JP magazine does this every year, i don't think you need to cancel your subscription.

But here's the question, would anybody like to see the Scout come back? I would personally like to see the Rubicon Grand Cherokee that was pictured in the article. And to see Jeep go back to solid axles on all vehicles would be great, too.

Jeep will never go back to solid axles on all of their vehicles, they would go out of business.

I was talking to Trasborg on the phone last night and we were laughing about all the whining that his article caused. IMO, the whining is more ridiculous than the April Fools joke.

Problem: International = Navistar = Publice Company

I understand some of you saying get over it b/c they do it every year. I figured it out about 1/2 in to the article when I thought is like an April fools joke. Then I looked at the month on the cover, duh..

Anyway, I'm surprized the article was published because International (Navistar) is a public company and the Securities Exchange Commission has some pretty specific rules about information being released on public companies and what could be considered insider information and/or spreading false news to manipulate a stock price. On top of that, someone could have bought stock in GM or Navistar based on the article and if they lost money they might have case against the magazine.

All in all, it was a great joke, but if their lawers had seen it, there's no way it would been published!
