I'd like to see

a Jeep competitor to the Subaru Impreza WRX hatchback. I want all-wheel drive, turbo-charged 4-cyl., lightweight, Jeep hard edged retro styling, minimalist options. This wouldn't be a hard-core off-road rig, but an all-purpose, do-it-all daily driver.

Does Jeep have anything in the works that even vaugely resembles that description?????????

The upcoming Fiat based Compass and Liberty replacements might be right up your alley. Probably won't be retro styled though.

1st one- 1989 Cherokee Laredo. 12 great years
2nd one- 2001 Cherokee Limited. Got it before they were gone.

Wait for about 2013. The upcoming mini-Jeep is going to be aiming squarely at the new Mini Coutryman, and the styling is taking heavy hints from the Wrangler and the Countryman-based Mini Beachcomber concept.

Expect FWD/AWD, respectable but not amazing ground clearance (For its class), a diesel engine and 40-ish MPG.

Ive suggested this myself. The Caliber SRT-4 had about 285 hp from the factory (before you start tweaking it) and paird with the Compass' awd and the Rallye kit wouldve made for a a badass rally car. AND it wouldve meant for a respectable Compass...

You know a while ago I posted something like this. The guys over in the JK section basicly made fun of the idea and talked down on me from their 4 door JKU's

We aren't talking about hypotheticals here...we're talking about 5 model years of success, an already proven good choice.
I'm still in awe that the guy who thinks JKUs are dumb and a horrible choice wants to use a compass as a rally car

Wait, so you think a Jeep rally car is somehow more appropriate to be a Jeep than a 4-door Wrangler?

In my opinion, yes. A CJ/Wrangler style as been 2 doors for over 60 years. I understand why they made them and why people buy them but it doesn't make me agree with the decision. A rally style Jeep would just be another off-road type vehicle niche to fill.

Ya guys, I think Jeep is really missing a significant segment of the market. And a tough rallye car could really align itself well with the Jeep off-road reputation.
