God Bless You 5$/Gal Gasoline

Another article suggesting diesels on the way. Cummins though? I doubt it. The VM is much more likely.

Help me Expensive Gasoline, You're my only hope.

I need someone to photoshop Princess Leia braids on a wrangler.

That guy is definitely wrong on the idea of a Cummins diesel in the Wrangler.

Why not just get an old VW TDI, even without oil changes those things run for 300k without stopping and have as much if not more power than the 4.0's...

Diesel is more expensive than gasoline in most of the country. The difference in fuel economy would have to be pretty extreme to make up the difference in price, not to mention the higher up front purchase price. It's one thing if you're talking about a diesel VW Jetta that gets 55mpg, it's quite another for a diesel Jeep Wrangler that may get 25mph on a good day (not unrealistic based on the diesel Liberty and diesel Grand Cherokee's mpg ratings).

If wranglers new V6 gasoline engine gets 25 mpg in 012, will that not kill most of the wrangler diesel market?

^He gets it ^

You buy a Jeep to have a Jeep:
Off road mud bogging trail riding rock crawling work horses.

Single just you get a CJ / Wrangler 2dr.

Just starting a fam but still do the above get a 4dr Wrangler / XJ-Cherokee.

Got a full blown family want'em safe Grand cherokee / Grand wagoneer.

Got firewood / lumber Ect to get up river n through da woods to your cabin / house ? Get an MJ-Comanche / full sized J-truck / Wrangler pickup.

These have all been getting Jeeper familys around since the 1940's why mess with it ? ? ?
Slim down the number of Jeep SUV's add a Pickup and let US ride on ! ! !

Jeep "Go any where Do anything" Needs to make a come back heated leather seats / GPS isn't Jeeping . . .

I rolled through a Jeep lot saw nothing but street tires ! Jeeps on car tires make me sick ! ! Time was you got caught in jeep on car tires you were laughed out of town ! ! !

A/T's n M/T's were your only options now they got H/T's standard ? ? ?

Mike

That's not the point at all. You are just accepting the same old crap from the car makers. 40 years of innovation and all they did was make the wrangler bigger, safer, and better on the freeway.

For me the diesel is about having the right power band and range. You'd get more torque in the right place, and get 450 miles between fill ups instead of 270 miles.

You sure ya quoted the right post ? ! ? ! ?

The one I posted to you was the Wrangler pricing which I feel is bit high, You get a lot for that kind of money . . . Like a 250/2500 Diesel that gets 18-22mpg . . . Why settle for a tin can ? ? ?

My old K2500 Diesel floated between 19-21mpg held 30Gallons 20 x 30 = 600Mi per fill up that truck was only $9,000 ! Bought it at 75K-Mi and sold it at 139K-miles . . . There are plenty better 250/2500 - 350/3500 series trucks that are a better buy then a $32-$48K Wrangler.

I know lots of "Jeeper's" Never ever have I heard any concerns about MPG's ! I myself have never once bought a Jeep with MPGs being a concern ;-)

Based on what? No factory diesel Jeep has ever been rated higher than 25mpg. What makes you think they'll suddenly take an enormous leap up to 35mpg? A Wrangler is shaped like a brick, not exactly conducive to high mpg.
