Diesel Wrangler for Q4 2010! (Maybe)

Direct from Autoblog's coverage of the new Chrysler product plan:
Quote:
12:14PM Diesel Jeep Wrangler coming Q4 2010!

12:15PM Note: He's not really clear if the diesel Jeep will be available in the U.S., though we can be sure it will overseas in Europe.
Yeah, it's not 100% clear, but it's very, very promising, especially since it came up in the 'Fiat Powertrain Introduction' segment, which has been focusing on the NA market.

Hopefully, when they get to Jeep, it'll be made more clear.

Very ambiguous, can anyone tell if the engine shown is the current Euro diesel? I can tell that the front bumper is not NA spec...

Does Cummins still produce that 3 cylinder diesel engine they made? if they do why don't they just use that? Cummins already make the engine for the Dodge trucks which have a great reputation.

There's no way Chrysler could engineer in a new Fiat diesel and launch by Q3 next year.

The Wrangler already has the VM 2.8 released for export only, there's no current plan to introduce in the US. I'd almost guarantee there is no plan to replace the VM in any of the current Chrysler products for at least the next 2-3 years if ever, given the time it takes to engineer in a new powertrain.

They've probably been working on it for a while already, given the rate of introduction the rest of the line is going.
