I thought it was already confirmed that at least the Grand Cherokee CRD will be in the US by 2013 which could be as early as a year from now.

The oil sump on a 3.0L diesel is 10 qts... anytime you do an oil change it will cost you over $100!
It cost me $21 for 5qts pennzoil 5w 20 at autozone


The 3.0L V-6 engine requires a certain synthetic oil which meets Mercedes Benz MB 229.51 or Chrysler MS11106 specifications. It takes ten quarts of oil and a replaceable drop in oil filter. We went with Amsoil's European car formula oil and a Mann filter for a total cost of $124.29 in our driveway.

While you are correct as per the cost, Depending on if you go with the dealers interval or amsoil's your oil should last you 2-4 times as long. So that helps offset it a bit.
