That was the old Toyota. As of a couple of years ago Toyota changed its mission to be the number one automobile producer. They are no longer concerned with quality but simply want to crank out the most quantity. Even consumer reports doesn't recommend most of the new Toyota vehicles any more. They all have problems. Toyota is becoming who GM used to be. I think in the next few years you will look to GM for refinement and quality and Toyota will be just another mass producer. Go take a look at the new Chevy Malibu if you don't believe me. Its very impressive, and I'm not a GM man.

My family has an '02 Tundra, that they've been driving the piss out of (What you guys might call 'wheeling', we call 'the Alaska Highway'-yeah, it's that bad in places.
), and it's never failed. A friend of mine owns an '07 Tacoma that he beats to hell as well, and, again, fantastic. I've never met someone who doesn't love their Toyota. That said, I think they are, on average, slipping, but they've got a loooonnnngggg way down before they're like the Big 3. Plus, I'm not a big fan of their newest stuff. The current-gen Tundras are GIGANTIC-I can't walk by one without almost getting sucked to the side by its gravitational pull. Still, there are only a handful of American cars still worth the metal they're made of and, while they are getting better, they're still mostly crap.

first off I like to give the middle finger to who ever thinks the compass and patriot are crap . I happen to love my compass. My WJ died plain and simple. Now I working very slowly on fixing up a CJ5, I see them as two different styles of jeep.
!. my compass is my road jeep, it shows my jeep pride while giving me really good gas mileage and nice fwd system that I like on wet roads. I feel very safe and confortable in it. 2. The CJ5 is my off road rough and tumble jeep. Just on a side note, I pulled a TJ out with my compass and no I dont have 4x4. Sometimes it not about the jeep but who driving it. |

My point being is there no reason to hate the compass just because it not an offroad warrior off the bat, though I seen the compass do some impressive things in in youtube videos. |

Yeah he like your going to do what with that... Does it even have 4 wheel drive ?
He was surprised. But again I am also a better driver then he is. My MK will never replace the fun I had in my WJ offroad. But that why I bought an old cj5 that I am working on. |

I gotta say I think The Compass and Patriot were good moves. If you look back in history Jeep made all kinds of vehicles and there`s no reason they shouldn`t do it now. Jeep has the potential to be a lot bigger than it is.

I would like to have ford build the jeep brand if it were to go out.
They have the FX4 packages which i had. I have a FX4 Level II ford ranger and i loved that thing. It would go everywhere i wanted it to go with out any Mod's. As for toyota i have to agree with they are getting worse and worse. They are turning into a Honda like brand. For example Look at the 4 Runner, 80% of them sold are 2WD. Wasn't it called the 4 Runner for a reason? I have a 1991 4 Runner and i like it and it has 260K Miles on it and still going. Yes it has IFS but other than that it isnt to bad. Would i get anything newer that Toyota makes? NO! I would love to see a Jeep pickup. It would be great if i could take my jeep and my quad some where at the same time with out a trailer. As for Ford if they were going to get the right's i think we might be closer to seeing the Gladiator than we think. That's my $.02 |

Ford's in just as bad shape as Chrysler, there's no way they could buy Jeep even if they wanted too.
