Cherokee Concept Idea

I took this really neat picture when I saw a Cherokee and another car line up perfectly in my mirror. It looks awesome but would get rid of the box shape we all love. What do you all think?

You're not far off-the new Liberty/Cherokee will look something like these concepts.

I think the box shape is on it's way out. Look how long the boxy Commander lasted, and Liberty is soon to also be egg shaped. Can the Wrangler be far behind?

No. The Wrangler will remain as-is for, at least, the next 10 years, and that's only because that's how far ahead they start planning refreshes. It will likely remain fundamentally unchanged until it's no longer legal to produce.

The Commander and Liberty are being canned because their shapes were their only truly redeeming values-terrible interiors, uninspiring powertrains, poor fuel economy and absurd MSRPs (The Commander in particular-I love it at $15,000 for a good used '08, but for $50,000 new, you'd have to be insane to buy one. The Liberty is a great deal now, but before the pricetag was pretty bonkers)

What you really seen was a glimpse of the past AMC Eagle wagon 4x4. Had a good laugh looking at old photos on the net.

Love those old Eagles. Rare now. As a kid I wanted one due to it being unique. Thankfully grew out of it and settled on a Jeep.

Yesterday at work I saw a jeep in the parking lot that looked just like the 4th picture from your link. I didnt know what the heck it was. It had the jeep grill but the body was COMPLETELY different. It had a name on the side, dont remember what, but it started with an R.

..... I guess I did O.K. then paying $14,000 for my "06 at Carmax 3 yrs. ago with 36,000 miles, 4X4, a V8, and "Trail Rated" by Jeep, which even with a 2" lift drives and handles almost sportscar like. Here is Jeeps Rubicon concept.

That's actually the Jeep Renegade concept, released in 2008 primarily to showcase a prototype diesel-electric hybrid.

This is what the Commander was supposed to be-the 2005 Jeep Rescue concept, essentially Jeep's answer to the Chevrolet Tahoe and built on a Dodge Ram Power Wagon chassis. As a note, it has 37" tires:

With that Renegade concept, When did Jeep raid the history files of Austin Rover, and decide to build a 4x4 Bug eye sprite?

You are right, I stand corrected. But that Commander looks a lot like a 1st generation Mitsubishi Montero. Seems like I've seen a Mercedes like that also. I like it though.
