on some of those crawling pics it looks more like one of those remote control Hot Wheels looking thing more than a real vehicle. however i still think that i like the Skunkworks project better just my opinion though. still think that jeep should offer the Hemi as an option. i just think that jeeps should once again be offered from the factory with a V8 like the good old days of CJ's

The Lower Forty IS a Skunkwerks production!

Yes, Jeep NEEDS to offer a V8 in the Wrangler, for sure! Either the massaged 4.7L or a Hemi, or both as options. They've certainly tested enough JKs with a Hemi...

Would this be so hard?!

Right. It's not an option for the new WL Grand, but that's not to say they couldn't keep it going as an option for the WK, if they won't offer the Hemi.

ok 6.1L Hemi is the winner, jeep (Fiat) offers this and they will be the undisputed KING of car manufactures no questions asked. dang i would love to have a 6.1L in my jeep

and i am sorry i should have done my homework about the Skunkworks i apologies that was my mistake.

To be fair, part of the reasons it's being dropped is because the new V6 Phoenix engines are better in every way.

Good point! Like I said in some earlier post, I'd definitely take a JK with the new Phoenix V6 over it's current engine. I hope they at least make that swap! The only problem is, I'd have a real tough decision to make...the JK Unlimited Rubicon, or the new WL Grand? Hmmm...

At one time a V8 based off the Phoenix engines was planned. Don't know if that will ever happen though.

I saw that JK at a car show in Golden a couple weeks ago. I think its pretty sweet and I love the low CoG set-up. The only thing I would change would be the wheels. Other than that I think its awsome!

Both of those jeeps are SICK. Like a few people said, the 20" rims could get tossed though.

I think that's the look they were going for..
Or they were just going for the more.. Aerodynamic? look.

2011 Wrangler comes with the Pentastar 3.6L V6.
Better mileage then the current 3.8L V6, and power to match or even beat the old 4.7L V8...between the Hemi and the new Ford engines, American companies may give BMW and Mercedes a run for their money in the mid-size engine department. (Well, OK, maybe not for performance engines, but for workhorse engines...).

If they can squeeze a 4000-pound towing capacity out of the 4-Door, I might have to buy one of those instead of a Tacoma!
