Bummer! I'm chomping at the bit to run out and get one! Lol. However, it gives me more time to save up and hopefully finance a lot less or cash it! That would be awesome to buy one cash! Thanks

If you're really raring to go, about the only thing new we'll see for 2014 are colours. A '12 or '13 will get you the same vehicle for the most part, 2015 is the soonest we'll see any major changes, and that will probably only be the 8-speed transmission and the 8.4" touchscreen-so if you want a manual and basic radio, you won't get much different buying new.

Yeah, but I REALLY fell in love with surf/cosmos blue! If I went for a 12 or 13, it would be gecko. BTW, why is gecko offered with the saddle interior for 12, but not 13? Strange. Ideally, I want a surf/cosmos blue unlimited rubicon with a 6 speed, 4.10 gears, navi(don't care about huge screen), Bluetooth, tow package, etc. otherwise it will be gecko and the same... Once I see the new colors, I'll better be able to decide on year/options. I'd be pissed if I bought a 13, and they had surf blue again in 14!

I just pray to God that by the time I am ready to upgrade to a Wrangler they'll have the 3.0L diesel motor. Idealy my dream Wrangler would be a Rescue Green exterior color w/ the dark Saddle leather interior and bumpers/tires/wheels of the 10th Anniversary Rubicon. At the same time, if they still had the Rescue Green available for Patriot's I wouldn't ever want a Wrangler I'm very happy with my FDII Pat's off-road capabilities. A Wrangler would just be a big step up and I know I'd get myself in a lot of trouble with one of them hahaha

Any ideas what the new colors will be? I'm getting close to getting a new Jeep and I don't like the 2013 colors. Rock Lobster to me looks like a faded red YJ. I like my flame red 03 and hope they bring back a similar color.

Why do people want the Diesel so much?

You're surely going to pay a premium for the engine itself, perhaps as much as $2500 Plus for that option alone. That, as well as, being only available in the top of the line model of the Wrangler series, adding even more to the price, and then guessing, in the Unlimited model only.

Then there's the cost of the fuel, not only is it more expensive than gasoline, and limited when it comes to it's availability at gas stations, but w/all things considered above as well, you won't gain much, if anything, other than of course, having the engine.

Then there's the potential cost of repairs, the general maintentance, then there's the problems of the tranmissions, w/automatics being the only ones most likely available, even holding up to the torque of the diesel engine, as well. I'd definitely buy an extended warranty for sure, so there's that cost as well to add to a diesel package here.

Then it will most likely have to have a Turbo, if you want any decent performance from the engine. When Turbo's fail, and they do, they can cost a lot, as much as $2000 alone for an OEM. Again, you'd want that extended warranty.

The late model diesels have more low end torque, much better fuel economy(the Jetta tdi gets at least 38mpg[from a trusted source who actually owns and drives it with a lead foot]) and they are quite durable. Diesels have been known to last well over 500-750k miles. The maintenance costs are higher, as well as repairs, but they are more efficient, and last longer in the grand scheme of things.

But when you take in all the costs as I point out, are you really gaining anything?

Many people feel so. Diesels are more efficient and use less fuel. They also supposedly create very little heat at idle, which is good for jeep folk seeing as a lot of our time is spent at idle,

I have heard from people in the EU that can by the Jeep diesels now. they are not that pleased no power, seems most would have rather had the pentaticker.. a Jetta and a Jeep?. were is the analogy in this?. I know for sure I would hate to be stuck behind one on a trail, dust is one thing.

Not sure how well a turbo would react to being ran in water when its as hot as they get, more money. I could see a spooled up turbo(red hot) going in a cold river and warping like a burnt frying pan.

With all the added Cafe standards on diesels in the USA. a Jk one would be as option more like a Rubicon, we are talking Jeep now.

Jeep should have options though and diesles and a Hemi or better yet a small VVT DOHC V8 would sell best.

If MPG is what people want do not by a Jeep, keep the jeta.

Did this happen on the Hummer H1? Or the hmmv used in the military? Serious question, not being a smartash...
