Yeah, give the new ones a try. The 2012+ models have a 5-speed transmission, a torque/weight/time ratio almost identical to the TJ, 60+ more ft/lbs of torque and almost 100 HP over the '07-'11 models. Both as an off-roader and a daily driver, a '12 or '13 Wrangler JK is the best vehicle Jeep has ever made, bar none. (And this is coming from someone who loves his TJ)

I don't necessarily hate them, just taking my time warming up to them.. The day my TJ lets me down or ceases to put a smile on my face is the day I upgrade haha.

While I agree it's the best offroader Jeep has made, I still have to give best vehicle overall to the WK2. It has stock TJ-like capability while being a great SUV. I wish my ZJ could do what a WK2 can and TJ owners are just too proud to admit they do too

Wk2 is a nice jeep. Based on a Mercedes platform though... I can't picture a merc in the woods with us... I really like those though

The same happened when the Wranglers, or YJ's, nicknamed the Yuppy Jeep, first came out back in 1987.

From it's Rectangular Headlights, the Full Cosmetic Dashboard, the NP207 Chain Driven Transfer Case, the Vacuum Actuated Front Axle, to the removal of the Manual Hubs.

It's only a Merc platform in that it shares some dimensions. The actual steel and aluminum are Jeep. And I've seen WK2s do some pretty cool stuff. They're definitely capable.

The WKII is definitely, for 99% of the population, a far more practical vehicle-it'll go anywhere most Jeep owners would try to take their Wrangler, and it's better on-road and in a lot of poor weather conditions (Full-time 4WD is better than part-time 4WD on any bad road surface, bar none).

That said, the Wrangler is a better classic Jeep and, IMO, way more fun. It's one of a very small number of vehicles that's equally well-suited to going grocery shopping AND crossing a mountain.

Both are excellent vehicles, however. Two of the best vehicles built by anyone, anywhere, ever. And the sales reflect it-both are some of the best-sellers in their segments, and they're Chrysler's 3rd and 4th-best-selling nameplates.

You. I like you. You have a very rational, mature view on what many take passionate, heated sides on. I definitely agree.

Ha, I try. I just understand that it's possible to like two different things at the same time, and that people who aren't me can have different, yet equally valid opinions.

2014? No. 2015? Possibly.

I'm very curious about color options. Unless I'm mistaken(almost definitely) the 2012 had a rare option for cosmos blue. I would absolutely run out and buy one tomorrow if I could get a new one in either surf blue or cosmos blue(may be the same color?) the true blue is far too dark for living in the desert. I saw a post a while back about possible colors in 2014. Was it just a temporary option?

I believe we will be getting a lighter blue again in 2014.

Any idea when we will see them at dealers? June/July or September/October?

That, I'm not sure. Last I heard, it was late summer, but with the new Cherokee and refreshed Grand Cherokee dropping this year too, they may hold it back a little. I'd plan for September-if they are out in summer, special colours will probably be a little late on common availability (Since the first versions are generally done in more common colours, and the few specialty ones are marked up a little).
