Buttercup, why would the barebones Jeep be a TJ? It would be a huge waste of resources to run a whole other Wrangler assembly line for a niche, and the cost would skyrocket.

The only thing that would make sense is a JK with a lot less options.

An interior pic!

Looks better. Still has the Speedo on the wrong side as far as I'm concerned. And they haven't put the oil pressure gauge back. I think something like the Wrangler works better having knobs for the radio instead of just buttons.

I like the interior, but I don't like the steering wheel control crap. I want my original steering wheel, and I hope the god you can get it all black because that tan is horrible. And I hope that fake plastic chrome crap is removable.

"The front axle is a Dana 30, the rear axle is a corporate 8.25 axle; a Trac-Lok differential is available." EWW Corporate 8.25? Why not put that in the front and keep the dana 44s?

The 2008 Jeep Wrangler is not so much an SUV as it is an experience. It's slow and loud, handles poorly, has crummy interior materials and features doors that provide virtually no crash protection. But when it comes to off-road performance, the Wrangler is simply the best choice available.

Why don't they just discontinue the Wrangler ? . . . Rather then turn it into a plastic coated road worrier ? . . .

I'm sure it performs great off road still but judging by the photos of how its styled anyone buying ain't thinking "hey lets toss some mudder's on it and sink up to the door handles" . . . as the wranglers once were for . . .

To me it just don't look like rig you'd wanna fill with muddy muck . . .

notice the expanded VIC display at the bottom of the gauges....actually shows what door is open. A lot of GC is creeping into our wranglers. I guess time will tell if it is a good thing. They sure arent having a hard time selling them around here!

Well the original ZJ Grand Cherokee was supposed to replace the simpler and more spartan Cherokee. Maybe we will soon see a Grand Wrangler?

When I got my 2001 XJ I remember thinking how goofy and cheap Jeep was to use a standard sedan template for the Cherokee's door open light. Funny to see a trunk instead of a liftgate.

Local Jeep dealer is giving me opportunity to order a 2011 Wrangler with a calculated 2% price increase over what the 2010 would be... he said if the price jumps anything over 2%, he will eat the difference.

In fact, I have the numbers right here:

Unlimited Sport 4x4
Customer Preferred Package 23S
6-spd manual
Black
Khaki Interior
Soft Top
Anti-spin Differential Rear axle
5 addl. gallons of gas

Price for the 2010 comes out to $26680; he's offering me a 2% increase, putting me at $27,213 plus title & tax for the 2011 model.

What are your guys thoughts? It's my first Jeep, and my first "new car" purchase, so I'm not sure. Thoughts, input, guidance, from the experts!?

Dealers are not going to make blind offers. They are not going to offer anything without knowing their end profit.

Hey there, thanks for the response. I know you're right on that one... But I don't want to keep continuing this conversation here - I wrote out my response, then realized it really should be in its own topic. Don't want to thread jack this one! Once I make the new thread (tonight) I'll post a link in here, for those who may be interested.

That being said, I'll say that while I do like the pics I've seen of the 2011 interiors, they're hard for me to compare, given that they're all in leather and I haven't looked at any current models in leather...

Today I visited the dealer looking to buy my third consecutive Jeep from them. He told me they were just given the greenlight to place orders this week. Today theyd planned on buying 6 for the lot. They let me customize a new 2011 exactly how I wanted it. They ordered it along with 5 others and said theres no obligation to buy. Theyll alert me when it arrives and reserve it for me. If I like it I can buy it, if not he said he wont have a problem at all selling it. 30-45 days until arrival according to them

Anyways, ordered a silver 2 door Sahara painted 3 piece hardtop. Nav package, heated leather seats, side airbags and a bunch of other goodies. Quoted me a price that'll give me monthly payments of $15 less than what im paying for my current 2008 Sahara. Have the paperwork and everything, they even ordered it as "sold" status so it'll ship quicker.

Theyre the biggest Jeep dealership in upstate NY and he admitted they hadnt even received the literature on them yet.

PS No Penstar 3.6L V6 option, I even looked at the screen. Not even an option for it that was greyed out. 3.8L 205hp was only option for Sahara. He did admit it may be made available a few months down the line but I shouldnt cross my fingers. Last he heard it was being held out until 2012 and the ordering screen seemed to support that. Hopefully I'll know definitevly one way or the other before this one arrives so I know whether to buy it now or wait a few months for the new engine.

Why not both TJ and JK. I prefer the look of the TJ if I had to choose. But I have to admit the wider JK is a bit tight driving the known Jeep trails here in the Adirondacks. I am able to drive further with my TJ or CJ. There are many Jeep trails here but I do not see the trails getting any wider.
Yes I would consider a JK with an engine heater (gets damn cold here), a tow package and maybe that's it. The closest auto shop is 40 miles away. So the less electronics the better.
Jeep seems to be good at wasting resources with their other models so why not bring back the TJ or Cherokee line. There many be enough customers out there.
I would buy. I need only one kidney to live right?

I'm not really sure I like the new interior. The old one is not perfect, but the new one looks way too much like the Patriot. And the steering wheel REALLY should not have any of those crappy buttons on it.

I guess they could have an "Overland" version of the Wrangler for those who want a Wrangler, without knowing what it actually is, but the real-deal-Spartan version would be a must. The dashboard could well be just like in the 1950's and 60's, maybe a bit more modern but still just plain metal, with minimum amount of any kind of gauges or buttons on it.

Over here in Switzerland the second hand -market has dried out completely. New ones can be delivered starting from January, the the current model is totally sold out. I've saved enough money for my first JK, but now I can't find one! And I don't want to wait for 5-6 months... aaaarggh.

Thanks for the pictures! Was this on a lot? Also, is the bumper new or same as the old one? Curious if that new bumper seen in some leaked photos was for euro models only.

I drive past 3 dealers every week and still havent seen one.
