The first time I saw a photo of the 2011 GD I thought Trailblazer too.

this one?

Maybe the G500?

How 'bout the 2010 Discovery?

In this case...........Chevy's been WAY out in front of EVERYONE.......
Sorry...none of the above. When I first saw the new Grand, I immediately thought WJ, with a bit of the GMC Envoy and hints of the GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook/Chevy Venture.

OK. I have been watching some vids of this thing on youtube. I have to admit that i still dont love the looks but it looks A LOT better with the lift turned on! Think if you lifted it another 4.5"inches to clear mud tires and you turned on the lift for an additional 4.5" of clearance offroad. It's a pretty cool thought actually.

I agree that the air suspension might be one of the more appealing features.

The flexibility it offers should make this vehicle appeal to a larger audience. Those who want the slammed down, lowered look (similar to the Range Rover Sport) while driving on roads can do that.

Those that prefer a higher stance with some decent offroad capable tires should also be able to configure it that way.

I'm just hoping that we can LOCK it into whichever level we want. So that we can stuff some nice 31" or 32" AT, MT, or offroad tires fulltime without having to worry about any rubbing (or waiting for the vehicle to raise up to our desired level prior to driving).

I visited the Geneva Motor show last weekend, and asked about the new GC. It wasn't on display, which was a bummer, but got some info though. It will be available in Europe starting December (this year), and only with 2-rows of seats. They didn't comment anything straight about the possibility of a third row at some point.

So for sure it will be available in the US already sooner, probably by summer latest.

The Dodge Durango replacement will be the model that has three row seating. May and may not be named Durango.

Yes, the Durango will be the version of this platform with 3 rows of seating. And the Product Planning guide for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep lists it as the Durango, so I don't think the name is going away.

I'm a little dissappointed in the new grand cherokee. personally i think its too small for me. they should of made it bigger like a yukon or expedition. i think after my zj passes away, a yukon is gonna be my next choice. when you have a big family its not easy cramming everyone in the same jeep, lol

just my 2 cents.

The Grand Cherokee has never been meant to be a Yukon-sized SUV. That's what Yukons are for. You lose a lot of off-road capability once you start growing that big. It's difficult to make it up trails even in a ZJ. The WK is wider and longer to the point I wonder if it could make it up those same trails. A Yukon, you'd be dreamin'. The Commander was an attempt to fill this niche, but people didn't buy them enough. Jeep just isn't Suburban material. I think they could probably come up with something, but it looks like they're leaving that to Dodge. I wonder how the new Durango will do.

The WL looks like a mix of the WJ and the BMW X5. Personally I think it is the second best looking of the GCs (still love the look of the WJs the best).

I have mixed emotions about it though. I know this isn't going to be a vehicle you will take on the same trails that you took your Wrangler on, but at the same time I was hoping it would be a bit practical compared to the uber expensive Land Rovers. I would be afraid to take a $40k vehicle off road, even it it's an old logging road. The air suspension, 4wis, etc. just seem like that adds a lot of expense to the vehicle and makes it even that more expensive to mod.

It's still one beautiful looking ride and that interior (on what looks like the Overland?) is to die for.
