Ya Rubicon Trail looks pretty rough, it looks like they really pushed it through tough obstacles. I saw some other pics and some of the other vehicles had damage too

These pics raise a lot of questions and thoughts...

I'm really wondering what to do if you have the air lift and want bigger tires. Can you keep it fully lifted at all times? What's the maximum size tire that will fit when it's fully lifted? Will the rock rails and black wheels be part of an off-road or Up-Country package, or just MOPAR add-ons? Usually you just see black wheels on the spy-wrapped test vehicles, but I'm seeing them on numerous production-ready test vehicles. It would be great if Jeep was that in tune to offer black wheels!

I actually like this vehicle a lot.

But then... I'm not Grizzly Adams and I don't LIVE ON A MOUNTAIN.

I want a SUV that is good both ON and OFF road. 85%+ of my driving will be ON ROADS so this vehicle looks like an excellent blend of both capabilities.

Thats not my problem with it dude....lol. It is that it looks like a minivan not an suv. I said i'm sure it is very very capable and does awesome on both offroad and onroad conditions. I happen to use a grand as my daily driver. But, I like SUV's to look like SUV's and minivans to look like minivans. They are beginning to get a little bit indistinguishable....
I am sure the aftermarket will come up with some awesome stuff for this thing and it will make me a fan once again but stock the WL just lacks a certain "jeep" quality in it's look.

here is a copy of my first post-

So is the fact that they recommend wheeling with em stock. I seem to remember my zj having a passage about fording in the owners manual though so that's nothing new.

There is actually a subtle shadow under the Grand, which emulates what some shadows look like under lifted rigs. They aren't usually that dark out in sunlight. For example, look at the shadow under this JK:

Dude, I'm with you. I do like this new design SO much better than the current WK, but I would have to get it to look like my PhotoChop above for it to be as cool and fun to drive as my WJ. I have to say, I helped a friend, who's moving to the Cayman Islands and wanted Jeep instead of her Range Rover, buy a used 4.5" lifted Wrangler JK Unlimited, in Rescue green, decked out with ProComp wheels and 35" Extreme MTs, and it is AWESOME! All it needs is the new Pentastar or a Hemi, or even a diesel, and it would be perfect. This new grand is going to be so expensive to turn into the version I made with PhotoShop, that I think a lifted JK Unlimited Rubicon, at least with the Pentastar V6, will be the way I go for my next Jeep. They just introduced a graphite color too, so it may be a no-brainer! Now, if they added a SATIN black...

I take it you'd prefer a more "rugged" look for a Jeep vehicle. Is it the rounded lines and sleeker shape that you don't like?

If that is part of it, you might want to look at the new 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner. They removed several of the more "refined" aspects and features from the 4th Gen and also made the overall shape boxier.

Me, personally, I'm looking for an upgrade from my existing vehicle so I really like what the 2011 JGC is offering.

The Limited is FUGLY! It looks like a lame blend of the Highlander, Sequoia and the X-Terra (which I like):

The SR5 Sport with the Off-Road package is better, but the styling still looks clunky:

Ahhh...

Covered the 4Runner earlier. The consensus is, the new 4Runner is butt-ugly (mainly the Limited). I actually drove one with the Trail package, and I liked it, but I think the new Grand is much sharper-looking than the 2010 4Runner. And, the new V6 is really nice. It's loaded with gizmos and gadgets, but I still prefer the JK Unlimited Rubicon, although ONLY with a lift, otherwise I think the JK Unlimited looks like a roller skate. Here's the one I drove:
