Lately? What's so fascinating about the @$$-end of a ZJ? Wrangler? Cherokee? I don't like the new taillights or the sloping rear glass or even the flush mounted liftgate handle, but it is a nicely sculpted design. It's really not accurate to say it looks slapped together. I just hope that glass is separate from the liftgate frame, or I'm going to be REALLY pissed! They should really make it a power window like the 4Runner has been for decades, but at the very least it had better open independently of the frame. At least they FINALLY gave it dual exhaust!

I picked up a 2010 Grand Cherokee and now have over 3,000 miles on it, I've had it 3 weeks. I am getting an average of 20ish. I completed a 20 hour drive to Washington and 15 hours back - the Grand Cherokee was great. Very Pleased with this.

That's nice, but this is thread is actually about the 2011, All-New Grand Cherokee, which goes back to the WJ for design cues. When I started this thread I wasn't sure of the model year for the release, so I listed it as 2010. When I realized it's going to be a 2011 model, I tried to edit the name of the thread, but you can't do that. I'm sure your WK is nice, but here's my PhotoChopped off-road version of the new WL:

If the WL comes with a decent diesel, it's going to be a really hard choice between it and a JK Unlimited (Since I already have a TJ, and would like something vaguely resembling comfortable.

Plus, towing capacity.)

When is the 2011 Jeep GC coming out? Does anyone know? Two dealers in Toronto told me in Feb/Mar. I called Chrysler but they did not know. They promised to call me back but did not.

Chrysler announced they will be rolling into dealerships by the end of April/beginning of May. Can't wait to check them out!

I spoke with Nick Kolak yesterday, though, and getting one to look like my PhotoChop will be pretty $$$, so unless I have a financial windfall or win the Lottery, I think I'll probably go with customizing/lifting a JK Unlimited Rubicon with the new Pentastar V6 or Diesel.

As far as the styling, I never liked the look of the WKs - it was the headlights that did it.

The new Grand is what the '05 WK should have looked like. IMO, it would have been a natural progression from the '04 WJ. I like it.

FYI, I spoke with Nick Kolak, Grand Cherokee expert and guru, and he's heard that Jeep will be using the code WL for the new Grand's designation. It's what I had heard early on and what seems to make sense. I think Allpar.com has it wrong. Just passing along news as I hear it...

Diesel?
WJ Freak. I read the Daimler cut Chrysler off because they did not pay their bills when they went bankrupt so Daimler would not supply them with any more Diesels.

Are you saying the Diesel is coming back???? That would be fantastic news. I spend a lot of time in Europe. The majority of cars there are Diesel. In November in the UK I rented a Jag. It even turned out to be a Diesel. I would go for the Diesel without question.
