I just hope that 17/23 MPG rating holds up under real-world driving. Since my current commute is almost exactly what the combined split is, I can deal with 20 MPG (Considering I get 15-ish in the TJ right now, and that's only gonna get worse.)

So what do you think about the XJ, ZJ, and JK?

Is it just me or does the rear look like a BMW X5?

It also reminds me of a Toyota with that piece of chrome between the taillights.

I care because you might be crazy if you think a bulbuous minivan targeted at soccer moms looks better than a truck with styling similar to the design of the Land Cruisers, Patrols, and other incredible vehicles we don't get in America. If you're going nuts your fellow Jeepers have a duty to see that you get the mental help you need.

I maintain that the potential for this vehicle would not be mistaken for a bulbous minivan:

Is it perfect? No. Do I think it's sharp? Yes. How does it truly stack up to other Jeeps? Time will tell. While I'm very picky about truck/SUV/Jeep styling, I do love a range of differing styles, from old M-37s and Power Wagons to my WJ and this new Grand. Everyone has their personal taste and preferences, and shouldn't be criticized for them. Automotive design is like art: it's subjective; to each their own.

Now, as far as what the designers have done, and decisions the manufacturers have made, critique away! We can have a healthy debate on those issues without tearing each other apart. I mean, choices we make relating to taste may not make sense to everyone, but so what. I never really cared for the snub-nosed look of the ZJ, and even though there are a lot of awesome-looking lifted ones here, I'd still never chose to own one. But I love the Cherokee and Wrangler, especially the JK. When the '99 WJ came out, I fell in love with the styling and wanted one immediately, but I thought they ruined the Grand with the WK. Again, there are some great-looking lifted WKs, but I'd never own one. When I saw this new Grand, I loved it because it looked so much like the WJ, but I do have problems with certain things, like the taillights and the 4WIS. While I think even with the independent suspension it will be plenty trail-worthy, it will be very expensive to lift.

Now if Fiat adds a nice diesel or the new Pentastar V6 to the JK, I may just go with a Rubicon Unlimited and be done with it!

HA!!

The new 5th Gen 4Runner looks like an outdated box from years past. It is, in almost every way, a step backwards from the performance and style of the 4th Gen. And I should know. I currently have a Limited V8 4x4 Toyota 4Runner. It is my daily driver and actually the only vehicle I currently own. I love the handling and power.

The decision by Toyota to make the 5th Gen without a V8 option is one of the MAIN reasons I plan on replacing my 4Runner with a 2011 JGC.

That... and the damn Suflur smell whenever I step on the gas.

Thank god, I thought I was going crazy. Every Toyota I've had did that, but everyone thought I was nuts when I told them that.

Nope... you're not crazy.

Toyota has a huge problem with excessive sulfur smells coming from some of their vehicles. It is mainly due to the THREE catalytic converters in the exhaust system of some cars and trucks.

Do a Google search on "suflur smell" and "Lemon Law" and the first page of results will mostly be Toyotas.

Really not liking the new Cherokee To me looks like an Exploder and x5 had a baby...

And it's kind of sad to see that the 300 looks like it's turning into a Sebring, which is getting the axe. Why would you kill a car, then make one of your successful cars to look like it?

The marshmallow WL looks like it's from the blobby 90s! Current styling is edgy and chunky, especially for trucks.

I don't really see any comparison to an Explorer...X5 I can buy, but I could see if you said an Envoy, not an Explorer.

And what are you referring to with the 300? This is the 2011 Chrysler 300C:

Are you referring to the 200C EV? This is the possible Sebring replacement, the 2012 Chrysler 200C (which I believe is a beautiful car and much better-looking than the Sebring):

What's up with Chrysler designers and the butt end lately?

From the front, I really like the looks of that 200C. Then you get to the trunk and it's like they just shoved on whatever small car rear they had laying around.

Ditto with the new Grand Cherokee and even the WK. Nice front, nice sides... Throw some sheet metal on the back and call it good enough.
