I believe they stopped making the trackers because they couldnt keep up with safety requirements... and rather then redesign, they just stopped makin em.

trackers, even the newest ones, compared to todays standards weren't the best in that department.

I do think the Jeep crowd would embrace a small jeep about that size tho... most of the core faithful dont care about lux stuff... wranglers are a good example. but they would have to have a SFA and SRA for it to really be true to the core fan base...

Assuming we're talking about the old live-axel versions ('98 and older), yes, they did, but safety standards have changed a lot in the intervening decade, and even then they had a terrible safety record. The ones after were just little softroaders.

They still make the Sidekick-or, rather, the lineage has continued. In North America, it switched to the Vitara after GM stopped rebranding them for Chevy/Geo/Pontiac. The Suzuki Samauri is still around, too, and fundamentally unchanged-but they don't sell it in North America.

Talking about Suzuki, they have the SX4 Hatch AWD. Looks like Jeep wants to get into this market with the Phoenix.

A acquaintance bought a 2010 SX4, it is a neat little vehicle and perfect for the climate I live in.The price tag is like 5K less than the Subarue's.
