your jeep could be worth millions, SELL IT NOW!!!

they could be worth tons of money. i saw a red 99 limited at a car lot. 4wd, nice interior, 98,000 miles, power stuff. the guy came out and told me it was $13,500. i literally laughed out loud. he asked if that was too high. i told him i had been researching cherokees for a year and a half and none were that high. he told nme to make him an offer. i told him $8,000. he said, plus tax? and i said, no, out the door. i've been looking at the auto trader and found most xj 4x4's are going for someone in that range so i told him. i was thinking i shouldve gone lower after i said that. he said "$8,000?" were those cherokees limiteds? i said, not all of them but painting the flares and bumpers isnt a $5,000 upgrade. then i slapped him and called him a ***. just kidding, i told him good luck and to have a nice day. it's been sitting there for 2 months.

couple weeks later i saw a base model xj (approx a 2000). steel wheels, lots and lots of dings in the body run down interior around 95,000 miles. i was about to leave when the guy came out. i figured since he was here i would ask him the price. as soon as i did i had thoughts of the $13,500 limited. before i could even get that thought in my head completely, he replied......"$13,500" i couldnt take it anymore. i said, "are you serious" he said, yeah, what kind of price were you thinking. i told him about $4,500. then he laughed and said "oh, you want a cash price" he said the 13,5 is if they finance it. he gave me a cash price of 9,500. looks like it's back to the internet for my search.

AutoTrader and Ebay are your friends for XJs. Keep searching and be patient and you'll find brilliant deals that come along. I check Ebay every other day for XJs and its sweet that you can now sort by the distance closest to you. I picked up my immaculate 94 XJ off of Ebay from a dealer for $1995 so there are plenty of deals around!

i feel kinda ripped that i payede 2500 for this jeep, it came with 190,000 miles, and a liscene plate holder that read somethin like "every girl needs a jeep". I forgot exactly what it said but it was more embarising than that.

if you guys are lookin for a good deal on a cherokee, usually the state auctions, because of the Forest service around here anyways....right now i know where 2 really nice low miles jeeps are, so if your in Oregon/Washington/Idaho, let me know and ill tell u where u can find them.

EDIT: They are Both 5-Speeds with the 4.0L

I looked for over a year for the right one for my needs. I found mine local, mint on the inside, close to mint on the outside with 105 k miles for 6 grand. I ran into many in the 3500 to 5000 grand range that were trash and leaked from every seal.

If your looking for a base model, well maintained, and 100 to 150k miles go here:

https://www.arstatesurplus.com/ or other gov sites.

There is usually one here every 2 or 3 months. Most are white.

Speak up, I'm going to be buying a cherokee (or if I can find a decent price, a wrangler) in WA state at the end of May. I've been looking over craigslist, ebay, auto trader, etc to get a good feel for prices (for about a month now) and it seems like WA, OR jeeps are rediciously overpriced (some are asking 2-4k over nada). The OR state auctions look like a good place to start, but it's a good ways away and I don't really want to deal with ebay.

Some dealers are nuts.. but you gotta talk them down.... I got mine 3 months ago at a dealer. Paint on the window said $10,000 (it's an 01 Cherokee sport... bone stock no dings, dents, or chips... 60,000miles). After walking out on them several times I got it down to $7900 out the door. I thought that was a good deal for a cherokee with relatively low miles, and i know it was a single owner dealer serviced car. I'm sure there are better deals out there.... just gotta be patient.

He he, I just did a kbb for the fun of it. 99 with 98k miles in excellent condition, limited, 4wd, every option including Up-Country, and it only listed $9900 as the suggested dealer retail. For the same XJ in a private party sale, in the very best condition, $7900k was the kbb.

We paid $6200 with tax, lic, etc for my wife's 99 Classic. It had 131k miles on it, but it looked brand new. We picked it up last summer. I got my 93 for $1200 in '01. That's what the Honda dealership was going to give my mom for it when she bought her Accord.

XJ's have horrible resale value. ebay is a great place to find one, they are for the most part dirt cheap on there.
