XJ Sunvisor

I'm interested in a Sunvisor for my Cherokee. But I would like to know some of your experiences.... I know MS Harnett has one... any problems? are you happy with it? What brand? Lund? How is the installation, I hear you use self tapping screws. Do these go right into the roof? Leaks possible?
Thanks for your input. (anyone)

if you get one dont go over about 130 mph. lol. a buddy of mine has a 78 chevrolet truck with one. he has done extensive motor work and was testing it out on the itnerstate and the wind going over the roof of the truck made the roof pop in. he said it popped back out when he slowed. doesnt really help you but your question and everytime i see MSHarnetts avatar i think about it.

i cant really speak for him but i think he has had it on there for a good little while. he posted a pic of a lift kit that he doesnt have on there anymore and he had the visor then.

Here I am

Yeah it is a Lund, the Orignal SunVisor. I believe the XJ only has 2 available, that and the Moon Visor, which has the 5 amber lights. Anyway, I think its a major part that makes my Jeep look badass, well, at least cool.

1. I have had no problems with it.
2. VERY happy with it.
3. Install is easy with two or three people. (have them hold it "straight" drill some holes, fill in with silicon, screw in the self threaders. They do just go right into the roof, and I was worried about leaks too, so I probably used more then enough silicon.
4. FYI: you need to have it painted (also the screws have little caps, make sure you get them painted too)
5. It wouldn't suprise me if they do pull of doing 130, its like an air scoop, but I've never gotten that fast. This was like my first mod, so I could still speed, but I've never had any complications. Sometimes going fast on a windy highway I can barely see it wiggle a bit, but nothing crazy.

Here is a pic for your enjoyment. It doesn't really block the sun to much, but you can see in this pic, its doing its job well, keepin the sun out of my eyes

I"ve got one too and I wouldnt have an XJ without it now. I think it gives it the extra something for the top of the windshield, more squared off like the rest of the body. Mines a Lund also, with 5 amber lights. Looks great going down the road, does pick up a little wind, might count for a wee bit of the wind noise.

Just throwing out some prices:

Quadratec sells:

Lund Sunvisor for '84 - '98 XJs $160
MoonVisor Lighted Visor for '84 - '98 XJs $210
Shipping costs: 20-23 bucks

I'm curious how someone quoted 300 bucks for a visor previously on this thread.
Seems a little much to me....

anyone know why they only list these things for the 98 & below XJ's, they're still the same roof pattern all the way till '01 right?

They definetely make visors for '99 to '02 models too.
I'm not sure why they would be different....is the roof rack placement different?

300 was probably a painted to match price

There are no 02 XJs, but as far as 99-01, I also don't see any diffrence. I'm almost positive it will fit. I've seen Quadratec make the same mistakes about other parts too. I may be wrong though.
