And then I went big or as big as I could afford.
![]() Tried 1" dowel rod but later went to threaded rod. This is a 26 cubic foot box with four Memphis Mojo 15's. ![]() ![]() ![]() That big hole is my port tuned at 62Hz Here is a pic when I was testing and moving things around adding batteries, etc. Go ahead and give me heck about my wires blue junior, I deserve it after what I posted about your wires, ![]() There are eight Memphis 1500D's totaling 12,000 watts, they are dual voice coil subs and I had one amp on each coil.3,000 watts per sub. ![]() Then I dropped down a class and ran four Memphis Reference 1000's. The one on top is a 4 channel running my mids & highs ![]()

wow, nice man. Loudest I've hit was around 139 I believe, with my 2 15"s in a free air setup in a camry.

great setups, and to be honest, i could care less about the wires, thats a lot of amps to manage. You seem to be the poster child for go big or go home, I have to ask where you find the time for all this? |

I'm not XJ Jay,but I will answer for him, seein's how those are my systems. ![]() I only messed with it for a few years back in 2001 thru 2004 during that time my oldest son was getting his drivers license and his first vehicle and he wanted a loud system. When I start something I tend to always go overboard which almost always gets me in hot water with the wife.Anyway we started competing in USAC Outlaw SPL and I just got carried away like always. As far as finding time ,well there were alot of late nights. |

i do apologize scanning through posts I mix up the names of who posted what. Now i have a question for those with some experience building boxes, im building a box to go under the bench seat in my dads truck, and im trying to decide whether to go with an abs plastic tube port, or just to build a square port into the box, ive only used the plastic tube and slot ports in the past, since i mostly deal with sealed boxes. anyone got a strong opinion as to plastic tubes vs built-in square ports? in either case the port would be firing into the space under the drivers seat pointed at the drivers side panel (its a tight fit cuz its a ported box for an 8' sub with built in compartments for 4x6's all going under the bench seat of a c20)

its a very short space and the trucks a restore job, no cutting or drilling to make better location. im replacing paper cone 4x10's under the bench with 4x6's and an 8' sub to open up the frequency range and give him the volume to hear it over that big old V8. the boxes for the 4x10's are almost too tall as it is, cant fit a 5.25 or a 6.5 without angling them up into the seat, which would kill the highs. its a 67 C20, its not exactly built with audio in mind, and has no factory speaker locations, just boxes under the bench. its not great, but it'll be a huge upgrade and doesnt mess up the factory condition and look of the interior. Its his baby, that restored look is WAY more important to him than the imaging quality of the speaker location.

and its a single front bench seat. no back seat. so the speakers would be firing into the legroom area of the completely open cabin....sound actually carries better than you would think.....under 45mph anyway (he drives with the windows down mostly)

i originally had a sealed box planned, but the volume isnt hard to reach, cuz its a VERY wide and deep space, just very short.....and i figured the extra boost in the low end couldnt hurt cuz its just an 8"....I'll redo the measurements though...a sealed box is certainly always a safe bet...

it has a very large excursion for an 8 and fairly affordable. |

great sub, i'll definitely take it into consideration thanks for the heads up....its less power hungry but deeper than the db 8" i was looking at, better frequency response too.
