XJ replacement seats??

Any good links to replacement seats for the XJ, or close substitutes available at the local pick-and-pull? Will Grand Cherokee seats fit the XJ?

I believe any Cherokee seats from 95-01 will fit, or any Grand Cherokee seats. But if you've ever sat in a GC, they are so much more comfortable.

87-95 XJ seats will fit, GC seats either need you to swap or modify the mounting bracket.

I personally like the seats in my 88, better than my moms 2000 WJ. Just my opinion....I think ZJ (93-98) seats will swap in a cherokee 94+, correct me if im wrong.

I thought in 95 they updated the floor pans. The 95 I looked in had different seat mountings.

Yeah, that was more directed towards jfiscus up there. I always assumed they changed the floor pans when they added all the other chrysler-ness... like the air bag steering wheel... in 1995.

j/w .. do you have the cloth seats or the leather ones in your 88? I'm trying to find some grey leather ones but it's hard finding ones without rips.

94 and older have horizontal mount seats.
95 and newer are vertical.

for zj swaps:
if you have a 94 and older, you use the zj seats and the xj bases and sliders.
if you have a 95 and newer, then you use the zj seats, sliders, and bases.

Cloth, but i always wondered how the leather feel. The leather looks comfy!

I sat on a leather rear seat before and it was noticeably softer than its cloth counterpart.

BTW.. I love your Jeep. It may not be lifted and outfitted for wheeling, but as far as stock XJ's go.. yours is really nice.

Though, i'm suprised you dont have the full lenth center console yet =o

Aren't wrangler axles narrower than XJ axles?

How are ZJ brakes better? I've never heard anyone mention using ZJ brakes for the front.

ZJ front brakes and XJ front brakes are the same. Wrangler (TJ) front axles are LP 30's you would really want a 92 or later XJ front axle and in 95 or 97 they added the 297x front U-Joints, they in 99 they installed the TJ LP 30.

The TJ axle shafts can be swapped in to the XJ D30 housings. All TJ shafts use the bigger Ujoints.

The brake upgrade is usually the WJ setup, that may be what he meant, or the rear ZJ disc seto for the XJ.

Give it about 2 weeks. Its funny i was just searching on it yesterday. The main reason I dont have one, is probably because i cant find one in nice enough shape and without a broken latch for the lid.
