XJ leaf springs
So I will soon be picking up a 1995 XJ. One problem I will need to fix is it has a broken rear leaf spring. The previous owner has an exhaust clamp holding it together. I'm sure I can find a replacement for fairly cheap, but if I'm spending money I might consider a lift too, especially considering it could use new shocks as well. I believe a read somewhere about S10 leaf springs working on the rear of a xj, so what is the deal with that? Can you fellas give me some input on what you think I should do to replace the suspension on this. I wont go with something cheap and dangerous, but I really don't have much money to work with here. Also, I noticed that on deceleration the rear end whined, is this something normal on the XJs?
Thanks for your help

You can look in the sticky section under FAQ and find info about an s10 leaf spring bastard pack. I wouldn't say it's cheap and dangerous, the S10 leafs are MUCH better quality than the xj leafs. I used the xj main and 3 s10 leafs and left out the overload spring. On the front I used Ford F150 springs and a 2" spacer and got close to 4.5" of lift front and rear. Use longer shocks and break lines (95 wrangler), some extra bump stops, track bar and most likely an sye. I'm sure I forgot a few things. Or, if you have the money go buy a full lift kit.....
