XJ issues

Hey guys, I have a 1996 XJ 2wd that is used as a DD/commuter. Lately, it has taken it a while to start (longer than usual), but it always starts. This morning it did the same thing, but it started and drove perfect, until I had to make a sharp right turn.

At that point, the vehicle shut down. It started back up after a bit of hesitation. And then drove fine the rest of the way. The starter, battery, and alternator have all been tested and are fine. I think it may be the fuel pump, but I have no way of testing the fuel pressure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Get a test gauge they are cheap or you should be able to rent one from autoparts stores. It screws into the bike valve looking thing on your fuel rail. You want a pressure of 49.2 +/- 5 psi. Then when you shut it off it should slowly drop to around 30 psi. Let us know what you find.

I agree, it sounds like a fuel issue. Like stated above test your pressure. You can go ahead and rule out the check valve by doing the "poor man's prime" test. Just search for it if you don't know what i'm talking about.

I have seen trucks that needed oil change spark plugs do that it more than likely is a fuel filter or fuel leak.As I said could just be time to check those plugs and oil.
