XJ D44 identification?

I have a guy bringing over a D44 this week. How can I tell it's actually out of an XJ?

measure the spring pads and shock mounts, and the whole axle, then compare to old axle would be my guess.

I have a better one for you. get the BOM # from the passenger side of the axle (on the tube).

It should be six digits, starting with a 60----, I think.

Then, take that number to the computer and go here:
http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?cvsp~deabill~2~

it should come out to show XJ44 from a certain year.

60 - 61 inches from the wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface on the brake drums. Leaf spring pads and shock mounts like in the picture. 44 inches from the center of the leaf spring pad to center of the other leaf spring pad.

The seller believes it has 3.73 gears. Did those come stock in a xj d44? I thought they might have.
