XJ brake problems

i have a 94 XJ with abs. when im going even as slow as 10 mph and i hit the brakes like you would to stop not slamming on them i get a knocking noise from the front. could this be a time to bleed my system or is it something more significant

thanks
jon

Can you see your rotors through your wheels? Look for deep grooves or cracks in the face of your rotors. When was the last time you put new pads on it or bled the lines? How does it stop? Any squeaking? More info!

i havnt looked into it much because i was waiting for a direction to go in... lame i know but i was helping a friend out with his jeep most of the time so i havnt had a chance. i just recently bought it so i dont know when he had any of that sort of work done he told me but i dont remember. it stops fine infact perfectly exept the knocking noise is my only problem. quite as a mouse. i thinhk tomorrow im going to jack it up and pull the wheels off and see if anything is getting hung up or the such. it seems to be primarily on the left side idk if that helps you at all but let me know if you need more info

thanks

prob. your rotors, but you'll find out for sure when you pull the tires off and look at them
