I agree with everyone here, great job! I too would buy a set of these in a heart beat! But if your not going to be making them, do you mind if I take your write up down to the local fab shop and have them make up a set?
PS: I would do it myself, but I have not welding skill or a welder...

You're on the right team

Being Military you should be able to have some of the metal fab guys on base help you. I've been told that you can use the shop and I'm sure some fabricators would love to play on your XJ. |

I know this isn't the best place to say this but I don't know where else to put it. On every other rig I've ever seen with body armor I thought it looked like crap. It was black metal screwed to the side of an otherwise clean rig. It works if you're building some steampunk Mad Max rig but I would rather have ruined sheet metal than a slab of metal stuck to the side.
But yours, painted to match the rest of the body, looks great! You have completely changed my mind on XJ armor.

Hanson Offroad use to make some real nice looking Rock Rails for the XJ. It wasn't the standard Square or round tube. They were kinda triangular and sat tight next to the rocker with a nice beveled edge. They were designed to protect the rocker from more of a underbelly hit then side impact. I was gonna get them but they weren't available any longer. I would like to try fabbing my own sometime. |
