For 88-91, it shows that it is not controlled by the computer, but just by the radiator pressure switch and/or a/c. It is always grounded, so you would have to put 12V to the orange/black or gray/ black wire going into the Fan Cooling Relay. Again, this is only for 88-91 Cherokees.

All you need to do is apply 12v from a toggle switch to the org/blk or gry/blk wire BEFORE the relay. This will activate the relay any time, but also keep it so it will turn on with the radiatior temp switch or a/c switch.
I covered how to do the Renix engines in there. You can't just ground out a wire, you need to add power to one. It is in the write-up.

As for the radio, make sure the antenna is in the back of the radio securely and make sure the connections are good; at the back of the radio and at the speakers. If everything is good, I would suspect a bad head unit. Mine went bad in the 93' I had.

You probably have a bad radiator temp sensor and it is not sending power to the relay.

I replaced it.

that and the one near the valve cover because my gauge was on the fritz.

still hasnt came on. it might be a lost connection in the wires some where i just rather turn it on myself. i am 100% capable of remembering to turn it on and off

when i unplug the radiator tempt sensor and close the circuit it turns the fan on. so

A)the switch could be bad.(this is the second switch)
b) wrong temp switch(again second switch)
c) i am not hitting 210 degrees(dummy guages) the whole cooling system is new so could i just be not hitting 210?

i am thinking about just removing the radiator temp sensor from the equation and putting in a manual switch at that point.

and turn it off when its warming up and on long highway trips

Uhhhh well you mentioned you removed all the other crap so that would include the lines and also the pressure switches (make sure the AC will only engage if theres good pressure) on the condensor etc so basically you lost the signal for the A.C. clutch to engage somewhere in there and the signal is obviously not making it to the fan relay from there. Makes perfect sense to me. My A.C. system is completely intact but theres something wrong with it under the hood and even when I selected A.C. inside on the heater controls, the fan didnt even show a care. I think it only turns on the fan if the clutch engages

yeah even before i ripped it all out the clutch wouldnt engage. to bad i ripped it out. there was no leaks probably the only reason it didnt work was the clutch which was probally just a bad relay

I have heard of people buying up to 4 temperature switches before buying one that actually worked.

For overheating, the fan should come when the temperature hits 219*.

If you are only at 210*, then that is not overheating.

How do you know what temp you're at if you only have the dummy gauges?

It seems to me that you are not overheating.

You could try to swap out the gauges and get one with an actual temp.
Or you could have a bad sender. It is a toss up.

When you are idling in the traffic, does it start to run rough? Or do you notice anything different?
