Winch And Battery??

Going To Order A Winch Soon. Im Wondering If I Should Run It Off My Current Stock Battery Or Install A Second Battery To Run The Winch. What Would Work Better?

optima deap cycle ftw!!! I have a red top. They are hard to kill. i have heard that the blue top ones have a better warrenty though....Oh and if you are doing long pulls you are going to KILL you hole electrical system. That winch is going to be a HUGE strain on it. Just use it smartly and you will be fine. Oh and if you really want to go all out and have deap pockets run a dual battery set up with a high output alt.

You will need a deep cycle battery for your winch. A stocker can't handle the draw from a winch.

Wrong. A stock battery will work just fine. Use it until you need something new.

Wrong. (half-wrong?)

If you have a red-top, you don't have a deep-cycle. All of Optima's deep-cycles are blue or yellow topped. BUT, not all blue or yellow tops are deep-cycle! I made that mistake when I bought a blue-top that is merely a starter battery with dual-terminals (34M Marine Starter, instead of starter/deep cycle).
