Will any D30 pinion yoke fit any D30 axle?
This is probably an easy question but I want to make sure.
Tonight I was just finishing off swapping a Dana 30 HP 3.55 for a HP 4.10 ratio when disaster struck. I managed to snap one of the tiny strap bolts in the yoke. As a temporary measure(hopefully you guys will say it can stay permanently) I pinched the yoke from the 3.55 ratio axle and fitted it to the 4.10 axle. Will this have had any affect on the pinion bearing preload or is the yoke just acting like a big washer that the nut tightens against? Give me some good news, I'm counting on you. I have a day on the trails tomorrow. the 3.55 is from a 1993 XJ the 4.10 is from a 1998 XJ I also still have the LP D30 from my 2000 XJ. can I use the pinion yoke from that if I need to?
