Will a 1989 Cherokee block work on a 1993 Cherokee?
I have found a decent 1993 Cherokee that needs a engine block and I found a wrecked parts jeep that runs well that is a 1989.
Question is what parts of the engine are interchangable? I know that the fI is different is the head and the block the same??? Thanks

All 4.0 blocks are essentially the same with the only difference being the main bearing locating tangs (which only prevents crank swapping ect) and the Renix block is superior to the rest so that's an added perk.

I used an 89 block for my stroker and I found one of the front cover bolt holes, one of the ones that the bolt threads into the alternator bracket was a different size. No big deal if you have the block out because you could drill it out. I also found the holes on the side of the block where the factory coil in a 93 mounts and the alt wiring(ground?) bolts up weren't drilled and tapped on mine. the bosses were there but that's it. No problem to drill and tap before you put the motor in though. Everything else bolted up just fine.
