who has herculined their rockers themeslves?
so ive been wanting to do my rocker panels and the bottom of my doors(trim down) for a while now and today at auto zone i came across a herculiner do-it-yourself kit for $89. anyone have any experience with it? im not much of a painter/body work guy so i was wondering if its a PITA to do. also does herculiner have UV protection or do i need to add another coat of that stuff on there?

its fine. just scuff the area real well, clean it, then paint it on with the roller that it comes with. make sure you let is sit for the time it says, if not longer.

Too bad that rubberized undercoating will start to fade to a chalky black in about 3 months. Some moron did that to a blazer I bought. The only way I could make it look better was to periodically spray paint the affected areas gloss black. |

For those of you that did this. How did you get the line at the top so clean? Did you tape it off then remove the tape before it hardened? Or just used the roller or brush and made sure you made a straight line at the top?

I sprayed the 3M Rubberized undercoating in my wheel wells. Its pretty soft for a while, but now it is rock hard. Looks great and im debating on whether to spent 90 for herc of like 7 bucks for the undercoating. I already have a can though because i need to do the other side of my XJ. How is your friends Rubberized holding up now?

I used the spray on Duplicolor bedliner. I wanted a less textured thinner layer.
![]() ![]() It has held up great and has been on there for years. Even drug it through the west texas mesquite trees and it didn't rip any of it off.
