2000 xj started pouring out white smoke today, have been having overheating probs and coolant lose before the smoke. Does this sound like a blown head gasket
0331 head claims another. If you plan on keeping the jeep and it is the head, make sure you replace it with a 0331 tupy head. The 2000 and 2001 xj's have weak heads(0331) but jeep fixed it in the wj and tj in 02(0331 tupy).
The weak link on your 2000 is the known defect in the 0331 cylinder head, between cylinders 3-4.
Head must come off. Inspection should tell the story. New Clearwater head or salvage yard TUPY head, a few oil changes, coolant flushing (maybe more than one) and hopefully that will resolve it.
This 0331 cylinder head should NEVER go back on your engine. If it's a factory 0331, you now have a new boat anchor. They cannot be effectively repaired.
