Where to buy 4.0L idler pulley tension bolt

Managed to break the bolt that adjusts the tension on the idler pulley. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one at? I'd rather avoid the hassle/expense of a dealer and stick to parts stores, since I assume this should be an easy to find part.

1998 XJ 4.0L tensioner bolt for the idler pulley/tensioner. Car has AC.

Thanks!

Auto parts stores don't sell factory replacement hardware, your options are a dealership or a junkyard. You may even be up a creek with a dealership because they discontinue quite a few parts for the Cherokees after like 10-15yrs unless it's something still used on another model.

I'd try a dealer. If you can take the parts with you, a hardware store should have it. If not, try Fastenal and the automotive section of their catalog.

Yeah, we have a fastenal locally, so I might swing by there with the part. Or a dealer.

go to a good hardware store (no home depot) and get a quality bolt. it probably doesn't have to be a grade 8, but why not?

It's a M8 1.25 threaded metric bolt that is 7.5" long. Your hardware store, HD won't have it. I know, I broke mine over the weekend.

Go get a piece of all thread that is M8 1.25 metric and cut it to size. Then weld a nut on the top. I just did this a couple weeks ago on my friends Nissan and it worked like a charm.

I lost that bolt on the highway a while ago. Was able to limp to the nearest junkyard and pick up a new one, bolt it on, and be on my way. It was only a couple bucks for the pulley and bolt.
