What U Joint do I need? Guaranteed not in search :)

I have a '98 Cherokee, and every time I've gone to get a rear U Joint for the rear drive shaft, I get one that is too small and have to bring them the one I removed. Apparently it has some heavy duty driveshaft...anyone heard of this? To make things more difficult, I put in a TJ Rubi D44, with the stock driveshaft, so can anyone tell me what U Joint I require? I think it has 2 different sizes of ends...

Thanks!

I have a stock driveshaft in mine and it's the same front and back ...

I would place my bets on a 1330 u-joint. Stock driveshaft u-joints are 1310.

Check the u- joint measurements:
* 1310 cup diameter 1.062" (1 1/16"), width of the joint 3.219" (3 7/32")
* 1330 cup 1.062" (1 1/16"), width of the joint would be 3.622" (3 5/8").

It's the same thing with my ZJ niner, every place is selling me 1310 u- joints, although the rear DS has 1330 joints. Same goes for some XJs, dunno why some of them have 1330 joints in the rear..

That actually sounds familiar, but what about the D44 Yoke? I think it's different...

2x Timo. My 98 5-speed uses a 1330 joint at the rear diff. The Chrysler p/n is 4746-936 and the Spicer equivalent is the 1330-X. According to the .pdf 1997-1999 Jeep Cherokee Parts Catalog I have, the 1330 size joint was used on 4.0 6 cyl with a 5-speed.

Northern Drivetrain has some great info on their site for sorting out u-joints and they sell Spicer.
I ordered mine from them last year - great service.

Depends on the D44, but a lot of them use 1330- series yokes. I can't remember which one TJ rubi's use, but I'm fairly sure they are 1330- series yokes/ u- joints.

Just go out and measure, that's the easiest way

Sorry Ruffnek, I posted without taking into account that you changed to a D44. What I said applies to when your wehicle was stock.

If you measure the cup size and the lengths as Timo posted, then take a look at what is available on
that Northern Drivetrain site and you'll probably find a Spicer joint that will fit.

Well I do have the 5 speed so maybe that's where the confusion always happens at the part store. I just went outside and measured and they seem to be the same size cups both ways, and the same width, I'll try a 1330, maybe this wasn't as complicated as I thought.

Thanks!
