What size tire can be run on a stock tire carrier
I want to run a 32x11.50 or a 33x.11.50. Does anyone run this setup on a stock tire carrier. I can get one from a guy for 20 bucks so I figured why not. Im sure someone has done this and reinforced it or something

What do you mean by stock tire carrier? LIke that bolt on the inside? My 32's don't fit on the inside.

I think they only made stock rear xj tire carriers for a few years back in the 80's, is that what you're thinking of? Basically if the steel looks strong and rugged, and the tire physically fits on there, I'd say why not.

to mount it on the body without worring about it ripping out you can put a steel plate on the inside of the sheet metal to distribute the weight of it. Other than that go with the stock mounts? I'm not sure where they are though.

I just recently put some 32's on my swing away carrier (87'). It has started making squeaking noises from the upper ball joint on the passenger side of the jeep. Other than that, it seems to be okay. Crank up the stereo and the squeak goes away. I don't see the added weight of the tire ripping the carrier off or anything... at most perhaps a rebuild of the upper joint at some point in the future.
