Most of you have seen the pictures of YJ soft doors on a XJ. Does that mean YJ half steel doors woudl work?

They are not interchangeable at all. You can make half doors from full doors but you definitely can't mount YJ doors on an XJ

I stand corrected. Any pics of the latch that was used? Doesn't look like the stock latch was used and if another one was used looks like it would interfere with the stock door.

I was surprised to see that actually looks to fit. I see a small spot on the back corner that is not fully covering but that isn't the point of the door. Looks like that will keep mud out just fine.

the stock lacth on the xj is used...but some mods were neded on the door itself. Ide have to get my hands on some soft doors to actually see what though. This picture is all the info I have. but I figure..if soft doors fit....half doors ahve a good chance of fittings aswell

The only problem with the actual half doors on a YJ is they are about 2" thicker than the soft halfs.

Yea, I thought about that ^^ Im gonna do it first with the soft doors. I have 4-5 buddys with YJ half doors, I can mess around with those im sure. This wont be until after winter. but im putting my build sheet together, and this is on there. My 97 has the old school hinges too, so that makes it easier

The only thing I don't like about my door coming off is now it squeaks when it is on the XJ. Plus I cut the wires instead of unplugging them so I can't take them off that quickly. Other wise I would be trying this out tomorrow. I will have to look at this real closely in the near future

So it seems like the half steel doors wont fit...but i'll be testing it anyway. The only concern is that this IS my DD. I dont want to pull the doors, and have probelms with leaks, gaps and sqweeks when I put them back on. I do have the older style hinges though, so will that make things better?
