warm just warm

97 jeep cherokee sport 125000 miles and the heat is just warm doesnt really get hot any suggestions???? i have not replaced the thermostat yet thinking that may be the problem jeep runs at about 160 degrees

Search "blend door", your heat should still be hot even if it's really only running at 160*. My diesel Ram runs around 165 to 170* and the heater will run you out.

Maintenance is always a good cure for problems.

Flush the radiator, inspect it for clogged passages and rot. Inspect the hoses. Replace both the radiator cap and the thermostat. Fill with 50/50 coolant mix and then test the coolant ratio.

thanks for the help gonna try thermo this weeek hoses all look good no rot no leaks and the rad cap is good alsp no leaks

You really should try to get that temperature up. Your XJ is designed to run in the 200-210 range. I'd flush the radiator AND heater core. Install a factory OEM 195 thermostat (recommend buying directly from Jeep) and see where you're at. And as mentioned, be sure to test the coolant-water strength with a coolant tester.
