Upgrade time..minor things.
Finally got some money saved up..so time to do some minor upgrades to the Jeep. Nothin major..just some new tires, maybe wheels, stereo, intake exhaust and possibly headers if i find the right deal.
Tire wise..just thinkin about gettin some 31's. So I can preserve a little gas mileage and i dont wanna get a bigger lift. And wheels if i find a good package deal or somethin locally. Stereo..just 4 speakers, one in each door. Might get some 6x9's and wire them up in the liftgate..not sure if thats stock locations but somebody before me had somethin wired back there so I might as well take advantage of that. And probably subs+amp. Intake..i wanna get somethin cheap. Im not down to spend $250+ on a tube and filter with K&N on the side. Damn waste. Probably gonna ebay it and hope what they send me is good. Exhaust I wanna get a Flowmaster 40 to a y pipe with duals. Not alot of people like this from what i gather..but i think it looks sick and doesnt sound horrible in my opinion. Im not goin for a V8 sound like everybody thinks..I just want it to sound sick. ANYWAYS...any suggestions or anything like that I would appreciate. I just want peoples input..outside opinions always help. And maybe some tips on how to make a homemade intake or somethin.

What's your budget for all of this? You already sound like you know what you want to do with the rig. A decent stereo can be done on a fairly tight budget, but if you're going to a show-car type of thing then maybe not.
As for 31's on a stock suspension, you'll probably run into some issues. If your suspension is sagging, they'll rub, and if it's sagging badly, then they'll rub alot. I'd stick with either 235/70R15's or 30x9.5's max if you're at stock height. I don't understand the concept of having the dual exhaust since it's an inline 6 and your pipes are only traveling down one side of the vehicle. Not trying to put down your idea, just doesn't make much sense. If it's looks that you're after, than go for it.

for the intake feel free to get a kit off of ebay just make sure its a compleate kit.... i dont know alot about intakes for bigger rigs but i know for a car or anything that the AEM V2 is the best ya can get and besides that they are all the same (granted its not like 1 inch wide or somthing) tubeing is tubing. but i would suggest if its not name brand that you replace the filter with K&n or somthing just as renown

Tire wise..I have a 3 inch lift. Thats why i was lookin for 31's. 30's would be fine too..just need somethin bigger than 255/65/16. ![]() Well with exhaust I just want looks pretty much. I know theres no point and I know lots of people with XJ's dont like the idea..but I think it would look sick. Probably the weekend after this one Im gonna head down to my local mufler shop and get a FM 40 with some piping. I'll talk to the guys to see what they think about duals. Im probably gonna go with ebay intake. And yeah I know what you're sayin xjoey. Theres lots of intakes on ebay that look like they're full size but if you read the description its only a 3" inch pipe. There's a couple decent lookin ones on there for like 30 bucks so im gonna pick up one of those for sure. And get a real filter. |
