Man In Black ![]() Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Chicago-area (Western Suburbs) Posts: 1,964 | I bought a set from NAPA with a lifetime warranty for this reason. I'm hoping that I won't have a need to change them but closer to every 2 years. But if I need to sooner it won't hit the wallet any more. Of course I am using 32/33's so hopefully mine will last longer if for no other reason. __________________ -Marc- Sweet Pea 1998 - XJ http://www.grobe.us/Jeep - JeepForum Rules - Become a Premium Member or Vendor For Sale: Roof-based bike carrier - for local pickup in the Chicago-area |

Registered User | D30 unit bearings just suck. I managed to carnage a D44 wheel bearing on my last trip. It cost me $15... __________________ 89 MJ - Stock but for the mods. 94 Dodge CTD and 16' flat deck |

Then you got lucky? has anyone had the unitbearing break on the trail/where ever and what happens? Is it possible? (stupid ? Im sure, anything is...) Im thinking that if it breaks the axle shaft would just slide out and it would be the same situation you would be in if you blew a C-clip on a turdy-5 Why I carry my old hubs for spares ![]()

I got some Timken replacements from Rockauto for not much more than I would have paid locally for store brand crap. __________________ "'Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky? " Roger Waters

When I blew up my 30 at big dogs, I ran the units home 200mi with just the stubs in 'em, so just keep some extra stubs too __________________ 44:4.56, Alloy USA chomos, Yukon Superjoints, Lockrite / 9":4.56, Detroit Caged/Skided xj on 35s with some other goodies -Sinking Creek 4wd Association Blacksburg, VA www.sc4wda.org.vt.edu My 44 Build: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/my-wagoneer-44-build-start-finish-466573/ |

Registered User | If I recall correctly a well known club member of Terra Jeep died not too long ago because he tried to limp home his rig. He left the outer shaft out of the bearing; it failed came off then rolled his jeep. I think he was coming home from the baldands. __________________ JOOP 00 Cherokee Classic- Stock |
