Under hood fuses

does anyone have a listing of the fuses and relays that are under the hood, on the passenger side of the engine?

also, my haynes manual doesn't have anything at all for the wiring of the rear window defroster. does anyone have a schematic for this as well?

both are for 1997 Cherokee Sport, 4X4 Inline 6.

thanks for the help.

under hood relays

when you lift the lid off the relay box look on the underside. There's usually a schematic there of the relays and fuses within it. You'll note there's a 40 amp fuse in there for the rear window. That might be the problem.

defogger

There's also a 25 amp fuse beneath the instrument panel to the left of the steering column for window defogger.

From the FAQ Sticky:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/fuse-diagram-2000-xjs-33820/

It's a 2000, but it should help. I recently experienced the fuse box telling me to see the owners manual and the owner's manual telling me to see the fuse box dilemma.

mickc9129, thanks for the info. i didn't know about the fuse under the instrument panel. as far as the relay box, you are right, it does list the fuses and relays. however, there is a smaller section of fuses that aren't listed on the relay box cover. these are the fuses that i'm looking up information for. in particular, there's a 15 amp fuse there that blows occasionally that i don't know what it services.

thanks for the quick help.

posterChild, i sortof ran into the same thing with my manual. the thing is, my jeep was broken into; one of the items stolen was my FSM from the glove compartment. so...i lost my "map" of the fuses and relays. do you have any info for the fuse panel in the engine compartment?

thanks.

under hood fuses

My '91 cherokee manual lists 3 15 amp fuses under the hood as follows:

Ignition11)
Back up lamps, shift selector, aux. cooling fan coil, a/c relay coil and speed control.

Auxiliary lamps: (12)
Fog lamps and underhood lamps

Hazard lamps15)
Hazard flasher and brake switch

You might pull that fuse out that keeps breaking and check to see if any of the above items isn't working.
