u-joint jumped ship today ...

So after two months replacing just about everything on the front axle to solve my steering issue I replaced the u-joints on sunday and have been driving it since . Today on a trip around town I hear a noise like a nut and washer just fell off. I wasn't too far from home so I just drove home. Looked at everything before seeing the cap on the u-joint was missing!!! Now for the fun stuff. I have lock out hubs so the shafts aren't turning and I never put it in 4wd with rhe new u-joints . Just got my spair ones in the mail today looks like I'm using one already .

No idea ! Maybe the c clips popped off and it worked the cap off.

^This sounds plausible and I hate it when that happens. Now I always double check to make sure the clips are fully seated.

If you have alloy shafts, I strongly suggest running full circle clips. Stock-style c-clips can pop off and cause a u-joint failure. Literally all aftermarket alloy shafts are machined for the full circle clips, stock ones are not.

Where do I get full circle clips ? My stub shafts are alloy and can take them now that you say that but my inner shafts are stock
