Trouble greasing axle uni. joint

Hey all!

I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee. I would like to grease the front drive axle universal joints but my grease gun will not fit between the cross to reach the zerk.

I used to have an adapter for these little spots and cannot seem to find one in stores or around the house.

Does anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks!

I have the same problem on my YJ. I looked for a small adapter with no luck.

When I used greasable axle u-joints I was able to spin the axle/tire and turn the steering wheel enough to get access to the zerk fitting. You just need to be aware of the zerk location when installing the u-joints.

Now I pull my axleshafts out to grease the u-joints. As often as I replace hubs, brakes, ball-joints etc. I never have to pull the shafts just to grease them, Its always part of another project.

The non-greasable 760 joints that came with my chromo shafts have to be disassembled to grease them. While they're more of a hassle they are also stronger than greasable joints.

All my driveshaft u-joints have zerk fittings. Needle fittings are nice, but I feel I can clean a zerk fitting better. I don't like the idea of adding dirt with my new grease.
