trimming rear fenders

ok, so what happens if i started cutting past the pinch welds on the rear fender?

i didn't cut completely through to the sheet metal, but i was able to cut through the fender.

i'm scared i did something bad

you can kinda tell where the cut is, i didn't cut the other sheet of metal connected to it, there were points where i noticed i was going through plastic, but i wasn't sure where that was coming from, its weird.

i don't get it, whats the whole point of trimming your fenders when you can't even go past the pinch welds? there's not even a half inch of clearance if thats the case.

The correct way to trim the rear fenders is to trim off the first small lip, then cut slits in the fender between the pinch welds and almost up to the 2nd lip. Then use a big hammer to bend the tabs back under the fender.

Edit: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/5252441-post29.html

Here is what mine looked like after:

Then after some bedliner spray:

I used the same method on the pinch weld in the front, so this can give you an idea of what to do:

BTW, this is 32" BFG's on a 3" lift, so this method provides a ton of clearance.
