transfer case, shifter seized at the tc case

Hey guys
need a pointer in the right direction, this forum rocks for simple problems with the cherokee!

i have a standard 4.0L auto with factory tc case, it has seized at the case end of the shifter

is there a common fault i should rectify first? ie linkage bushes? dont think they are to blame as they look new.

i have hit it with a bfh to no avail and umming and arring as to whether i should just pull it out or not?

Cheers for any help!
