I was under the impression that YJs and CJs while being leaf sprung front and rear came with track (or panhard) bars. Removal of them is very common on those vehicles I believe and safe given the leaf spring setup.

You may be right Biffgnar. I don't remember my 86 CJ or 88 wrangler having one but they were both second hand so that doesn't mean it wasn't removed before my owning them. But looking at the front suspension/steering on an XJ and not seeing a problem with removing a trac bar shows a lack of knowing what your doing and subsequently claiming you did it because you were "duped"and "misinformed" by internet posts shows an even bigger lack of responsibility. I know this is hard to believe but I'm really NOT trying to bash the OP but rather stressing the importance of having a little mechanical knowledge/common sense when messing with your vehicle.

Both of those are wrangler forums. More specifically YJ forums. Funny thing is that within the first couple posts, it shows a picture of LEAF SPRING suspension.

You're right, it is in fact a Jeep. Where you were wrong is that you ASSUMED they were the same. Guess your "crow" bit you on this one. Take this advice from everyone that has responded so far, put down the wrenches, and pick up a book and educate yourself before you go out and hurt someone.

... did you think those curly things holding your front end up were called leaf springs?

I have no experience flying a commercial airliner so I would not jump in the cockpit and start hitting switches during a flight. I am experienced with Jeeps but my wife drives an Xterra and I don't mess with it because I have little knowledge of it. Are you seeing the pattern here ? Not knowing about 1 particular make & model of vehicle does not make you dumb but making a mistake and blaming an internet post that you misread might. My point was to be more careful. Just to be clear; INEXPERIENCE IS NOT LACK OF INTELLIGENCE !!! Don't be insulted by it. Learn from it. Oh and open your mouth cause I think that crow just made a U-turn and is heading your way.

He more than likely came across a YJ thread, we dont run front or rear track or sway bars.

As stated, a track bar is a must with coil suspension

Shouldn't even be a thought on an xj. Is our point. Know what you're doing before you hurt yourself, or god forbid, someone else!

No, it's not. That is everyone else's point if its not clear.

Difference between a YJ and XJ and the difference between leaf springs and coil springs are pretty fundamental things to consider when making changes to your jeep.

Yeah that's kinda what we figured. Thanks for confirming it with YJ's. Like I said before I had 2 wranglers in between XJ's and neither had a trac bar. I figure they were removed prior to my owning them.
