im thinking of puting in a rear tow point but im not sure if this bar is sturdy enough to hold it. has anyone used this bar for a tow point before.

No, it not strong enough, nor safe.

You need a Factory original rear tow point or a Class III hitch.

how stuck and how hard where you pulled when that broke and will me having more surface area getting pulled that you had make a differnece

That isn't strong enough for holding my dogs leash.

That HANDLE might be good for pulling yourself out from under the jeep, durning maitenance. But dangerous for rescue of any kind.

A rear hitch is the best method, and can sometimes be found in the junkyard for pretty cheap. But if not e-trailer sells them fairly cheap. The sheet metal you are trying to use will rip out easily if you try to tow, or be towed with it.

The bracket was on my Cherokee. The diagram is from the Factory Service Manual. I installed a Class III hitch, it is stronger.
