Tomorrow is the big day... (RE SF install)

*** Pics on page 2, 3, 4 ***

...well not THAT big day but day #1 for the RE SuperFlex install on my XJ. It took me over a year to finally give in and order it and now after my Father past away early last month, I think its time for some change for myself as to get my mind off the past though he was suppose to help me with the install

But a buddy of mine will be giving me a hand as we both took the day off tomorrow because tonight we are going to go see Carlos Mencia in Boston. Now being that he is a Rubicon owner and having done his 3" Full Traction install on his Rubicon along with his brothers XJ and a RE Super Ride install I think it shouldn't be much of a problem for us.

So how many rear upper shock bolts will be broken tomorrow?

I hope none as I've been PB Blasting my XJ since Sunday but we'll see.

Anyways I will post before and after pics and what ever else I can snap pics of since these kinds of posts are worthless without pics.

But I will leave you all off with some low quality cellphone shots of my MT MTZ's:

Good luck it took me and another shade tree mechanic two days, working our real jobs when we had to, to install the RE 3.5 SF. oh and a couple of trips to ACE and Homedepot to replace all the broken bolts....as i once saw them called on here "twist and shout"

Yea I'll be getting a few pics here and there as we go along with the install. I will be buying new hardware like bolts and nuts for the shocks as the front lower shock bolts and nuts are not factory and are different sizes from one another and the upper rears but all to be higher grade quality.

Also the previous owner had installed air shocks in the rear...I guess to be able to load heavy stuff in but at the same time "they" removed the rear sway bar and bumpstops so you can image what a trunk load of wood would do over huge bumps. Yea it didn't sound pretty the two times I heard the loud bang; so I'll be glad to get that "setup" out.

I also ordered a SYE and CV shaft at the same time (because I know I'll need it) so that right there will take time so hopefully this weekend it'll be done but I'm not planning on it. We'll see.

What size are you going with? 3.5, 4.5? I may have missed it, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

Good luck with the install; hpe it goes smoothly!

And I'm up...almost 4 hours of sleep and I couldn't stay a sleep any longer. I walked in the door at 3:45 this morning from our little trip to Boston last night so I'm probably not worth as much as I could be but either way my friend and I will be tearing into the front. Now I'm off to the auto parts store for ATF, Brake Fluid, RTV Silicone and to see if I can score some snap ring pliers.

let me also throw in some advice from my own experiences. extend the bumpstops if u can with hockey ppucks or long bump stops in front and buy some extended rears, u will need them, if u r ever gonna flex this thing out u may need to trim the fenders a little bit as well. Oh ya and extend the brake lines if you can by relocating or by using yj lines.
