Tire Recomendation Requested

Howdy all,

I have a stock '95 XJ that I need to put new tires on. It's my daily driver but I also take it off road (some pictures of me up Kelly's Flats in Colorado HERE). Any recomendations? Currently, I have 235/75/15 and I think I would like to stay there as I don't have the funds to lift yet.

Thanks,

Brian

Beautiful scenery in those pix. Nice to see the nature shots with those of your capable stock xj. I recommend bfg at's. I have them on my dd and i am pleased with their performance on the beach, trails, and highway. Check out the lift/shock/tire section if you haven't already.

I have BFG TA Long Trails and find them to be just fine. Mine is a dd, on road mostly, they are quiet and currently have about 45,000 miles and look like I should be able to get at least another 20-30,000 miles. The price was right compared to the Goodyears it came with. tirerack.com is good source of info as well.

What kind of tire are you looking for?

A street tire with a little grip, an all terrain, or a semi quiet mud terrain?

You can fit a 30x9.50 at stock height if you want to bump it up a notch, but they may tend to rub a little bit.

BFG A/T's are a popular tire, but I love my Kumho Mud Terrains. They are cheap and wear well, and they arent noisy and I drive them 90% highway.

Another vote for the BFG All-Terrain TA KO

I am running 30x9.50x15 on a 2" Lift, but had no problems when I was at stock height

Rare Goodyear Lover

I got a set of Goodyear Wranglers from Wallyworld before the snow fell, 235/75/15, $57.00 a piece with lifetime rotation/balance. I wish I had gone up to 30" but these have been great, and the price was great. Real good in dirt, rain and snow, especially with siping. Don't know about mud. Mines is a 95 too with no lift but I've had fun with it.

P.S. I like the way you wheel... good scenery.

Nice! What roof rack do you have? I have a '99 SE, no stock rack, so I'm looking for something that attaches to the gutters like that. What do you have and what do you think of it? Is it strong enough to put the spare up there?
